Engineering systems

Ship on a Tuesday afternoon without holding your breath

When a release needs three people on a call, delivery slows to the speed of the bravest person. We build the pipeline, the environments and the monitoring that let a normal change go out on a normal day.

What hurts

Four problems we see in almost every engineering team

Manual deploys

A release is an event with a checklist, a rollback plan in someone head and a quiet prayer.

One environment

Testing happens in production, so customers find the bugs.

No visibility

When something slows down, nobody can say which change caused it.

Secrets in files

Credentials sit in configuration files and repositories, and rotate when someone remembers.

What we set up

The systems that remove them

Pipelines

Build, test, scan and deploy on every merge, with a change history you can audit.

  • Automated tests
  • Dependency and container scanning
  • One click rollback

Environments and infrastructure as code

Development, staging and production defined in code, so they match and can be rebuilt.

  • Terraform modules
  • Environment parity
  • Disaster rebuild

Observability

Logs, metrics and traces joined up, with alerts that point at a cause instead of a symptom.

  • Dashboards per service
  • Error tracking
  • Alert routing

Access and secrets

Least privilege deploy roles, managed secrets and short lived credentials.

  • Secret manager
  • Deploy roles
  • Rotation policy
Tools we work with

Your stack, or a short recommendation

We configure what you already own where it does the job. If something is missing, we shortlist two or three options with prices and trade-offs, and you choose.

  • GitHub Actions
  • GitLab CI
  • Jenkins
  • Terraform
  • Kubernetes
  • Docker
  • Argo CD
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • OpenTelemetry
  • Sentry
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Google Cloud

Names are trademarks of their owners, listed to describe the tools we work with.

Written scope

Every configuration has a written list of what is included and what is not, agreed before work starts.

Live in weeks

Most systems are live in two to six weeks, with your team trained before handover.

Support after launch

Monthly support with an agreed allowance for changes, reporting and fixes.

Connected to the rest

Each system is set up with the handoffs to the next team in mind, not as an island.

FAQ

Questions about engineering systems

Which CI tool do you recommend?

Usually the one attached to the repository you already use. The pipeline matters more than the brand.

Can you fix a pipeline without changing it?

Often yes. We start with the slowest and most fragile jobs, which usually recover most of the lost time.

Do you migrate servers too?

Not in this package. Platform migration and re hosting are a separate project with its own plan.

How do you measure success?

Deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and time to restore, measured before and after.

Will this help with compliance?

Yes. Change history, approvals and access reviews are produced as evidence for SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
